Update: Innovation Direct™ and Oregon-based manufacturer reach closure on specialized medical accessory…
Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Innovation Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking back in with an update on an Innovation Direct™ inventor’s medical accessory. Earlier Thursday, an Oregon-based manufacturer that had been reviewing detailed design information on the invention and Innovation Direct™ reached closure on the company’s future direction with the invention. We had last reported on this situation in a July 25th entry (“Update: Innovation Direct™ receives update from Oregon-based company regarding detailed information sent on medical accessory…“).
As we’d explained in that posting, the company had expressed some concerns at that point in time regarding the invention’s design and its similarity to a prior patent they were aware of. In e-mail communication exchanged today about the matter, the company explained that although they think the inventor’s design is arguably better than anything currently in existence on the market, their concerns over the prior art and what they view as a potentially small market have brought them to the conclusion they will not go further with the invention.
Innovation Direct™ is nevertheless undeterred by this development in terms of continuing to strive for licensing success for this item, and are in fact encouraged by the manufacturer’s positive comments on the design. We will continue to keep you posted on any new developments with the invention if and when they occur, here on the Innovation Direct™ Blog. Check back often!
