Update: Innovation Direct™ receives reply from New York-based Innovation Direct To Industry™ company regarding confidentiality policies…
Good afternoon, Juan C. Blanco, Innovation Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with our second Innovation Direct To Industry™-related report of the day. Earlier Monday, Innovation Direct™ received a response from our contact at a New York-based Innovation Direct To Industry™ kitchen products company that we had recently clarified our confidentiality policies to. We had most recently reported on this in a January 28th posting (“Update: International Technology Transfer offers further clarification to New York-based Innovation Direct To Industry™ company regarding confidentiality policies upon request …“).
As we’d explained in that entry, we had received an e-mail from our contact at the company asking us to explain why we would require a non-disclosure agreement to be signed before they could review detailed design information about the product ideas. This inquiry followed the receipt of their initial Innovation Direct To Industry™ package back in late November, which had contained preliminary, non-confidential information on 9 concepts from our roster. We had explained to the manufacturer that the majority of the product concepts we dealt with were unpatented, hence the need for a written guarantee of confidentiality.
As per the response received today, the company will only review patent pending or patented inventions and will therefore not go any further with the 9 ideas we’d sent them information about. We will certainly continue our licensing efforts on behalf of those inventions going forward, and will try to keep our relationship with this company active by searching for product ideas in our roster that fit their stated criteria.
