Update: Innovation Direct™ receives final feedback on baby accessory from company that signed exclusive developmental licensing agreement…
Good morning, Juan C. Blanco, Innovation Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, chiming in with another quick update on a busy Wednesday. Earlier Wednesday morning, an e-mail received from our West Coast-based industry partner informed us that the manufacturer that had signed an exclusive developmental licensing agreement for a baby accessory from our roster, and that we had recently provided mechanical drawings of the invention to at their request, has decided to not go any further with the pursuit of its commercialization. We had most recently reported on this situation and the completion of the aforementioned drawings in a December 5th posting (“Update: Innovation Direct™ receives mechanical drawings of baby item from inventor; materials forwarded to company that signed exclusive developmental licensing agreement…“).
As per the communication received from our industry colleague, the company opined that the manufacturing costs involved with the product would put it out of the price point range they had decided they could realistically sell it for. As a result, they came to the conclusion they would not invest any further time or resources in developing the concept further.
In spite of this temporary setback, we will continue to pursue licensing success for this invention, and have also received assurances from our industry partner that he will persevere in his attempts to promote the product idea to other companies he deals with in the baby industry. As soon as any further developments with this invention do occur we will bring you the pertinent details, here on the Innovation Direct™ Blog. Stay tuned!
